Description

Take a trip down memory lane to a perfectly preserved local grocer’s shop packed with iconic household branded items from the 60s and 70s. Younger visitors can learn about British currency and shopping pre decimalisation.

The ground floor shop is set out as it was in the 1970s and depicts a typical local grocer of that time. This unique “time capsule” shop offers an opportunity to remember, experience and reflect on shopping before the advent of supermarkets and online shopping.

As well as the shop, a downstairs parlour [which doubled as an office for the shop] and two upstairs exhibition rooms can be visited. The history of the Elliott family and the building in which they lived is told in words, artefacts and pictures in these two rooms.
