Description

A peaceful quay with lovely views of the river Tamar and river Lynher.

The quay has an interesting history. Civil War defensive earthworks were built here to defend Royalist Saltash from Parliamentary forces in Plymouth in the 17th Century. Much later In 1895 the first radio transmission was made on board the torpedo school ship HMS Defiance anchored off the quay.

Wearde Quay is flanked on either side by pebble beaches which make a nice place to visit by small boat or swim in the river.
